To be eligible for an offer of accommodation you must apply online by the due date specified, pay the application fee and have a satisfactory confidential reference from your school.

The majority of accommodation offers are made approximately one week after the application due date. 


Victoria House accepts full-time Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) and Non-VUW students who typically stay for the full academic year. Priority is given to students whose homes are outside the greater Wellington region. Students are selected according to the University's guaranteed offer and equity criteria, to create a diverse hall community by considering gender balance, cultural diversity, degree type and geographical representation.

Because we accept both VUW and Non-VUW students, there is a slight difference in process. If you are going to be, or currently are, a VUW student, you will directed to the VUW Accommodation page. Follow instructions to apply for accommodation at Victoria House. 

If you are or applying to be a Non-VUW student, we ask that you email us directly with details of your course and start date. A staff member will be in touch with you to guide you through the rest of the process.

Due to the high number of applications we receive, we prioritise first year students. Applications from returning students are not guaranteed an offer.

133 residents in single rooms and
48 residents in twin share rooms.
